About Meet Maths

Meet Maths is a free, independent guide for Year 12 and 13 students who are thinking about studying maths, or a maths-heavy subject, at university.

What we do

University maths feels quite different from A Level, and getting in has its own steps: sometimes an admissions test, a personal statement and an interview. We explain each part in plain English, so students, parents and teachers can plan ahead.

The site is free to use. There are no ads, no sign-up and no tracking cookies.

How we write the guides

We check details like test formats, UCAS rules and deadlines against the official sources, and we link to them so you can check too. These rules change from year to year, so each page says when it was last updated. Always confirm the details for your own courses on the university and UCAS websites.

If you spot a mistake or something out of date, please tell us and we'll fix it.

The history of this address

For years, meetmaths.org.uk was the web address of Meet the Mathematicians, a free outreach day for sixth formers that ran from 2009 to 2012. The event stopped and the address later lapsed. Meet Maths was built on it in 2026 as a new site with new writing, on the same theme: helping students see where maths can take them.

We are not connected to the original organisers, or to any university or exam board. Our Meet the Mathematicians page tells the story of the event and links to its filmed talks, which are still free on YouTube.
